Stage win for Dani Sordo in the one stage before the last of the Rallye de France-Alsace. The Citroën driver makes it in front of Neuville (+0,4”), Mikkelsen (+2,8”), and Ogier (+3,7”). The gap between Sordo and the new World Champion is now of 10” while Jari-Matti Latvala third on the podium is 23,7” behind his teammate.
Because he went off, Mads Ostberg loses two places and Mikko Hirvonen and Andreas Mikkelsen are now respectively sixth and seventh.
Stage 18: Vignoble de Cleebourg 2 (14,60 km) Weather: overcast Road conditions: roads are dirty, with mud but less water. 10. SORDO/DEL BARRIO: « This stage was easier for me this afternoon with less water in the puddles and I could see the lines which was not possible for me this morning when I as first on the road.” 7. LATVALA/ANTTILA: « I am not good with those conditions and I don’t feel confident. Dani (Sordo) is very fast and I believe I must cope with the idea of being third.” 8. OGIER/INGRASSIA: « I tried my best considering that the road was very tricky.” 11. NEUVILLE/GILSOUL: « It was worse than this morning in that stage. I overshot a junction but nothing serious. We had fun, it sounded like cross-country!” 5. NOVIKOV/MINOR: « It went well but that stage is narrow and tricky.” 2. HIRVONEN/LEHTINEN: « It was crazy and I am happy to be there! When I saw that Ostberg had lost some time I slowed down.” 4. OSTBERG/ANDERSSON: « I had some brake troubles on the liaison section and I worked until the very last moment on that issue. I was stressed at the start of the stage and overshot slightly a junction. It took us some time to restart.” 9. MIKKELSEN/NAGLE: « I kept a good rhythm on that stage. I am happy I didn’t make any mistake. I believe I have improved my driving during that weekend.” 22. DUMAS/GIRAUDET: « I had some fun even if it was really dirty. It’s a good experience to drive on such conditions. We were sliding in sixth because of the mud. I hesitate between pushing and trying to improve my position.” 74.
