Date: Sunday October 5, 2014 Leg 3 Press Release N°21 Stage 15: Forêt de la Petite Pierre 1 (12,33 km) Weather: foggy – temperature 11°C Road conditions: slightly damp – the road deteriorates 1. OGIER/INGRASSIA: « I wasn’t very fast. I was trying to preserve my tires for the second loop. I will push more in the next stage. Sometimes the visibility is not great especially in the forests. » 12. PROTASOV/CHEREPIN: « This stage is narrow, slippery and above all way too early! » 22. MAURIN/KLINGER: «We have softened our set-ups in case of some rain. It doesn’t mix well with the hard compounds. » 21. PROKOP/TOMANEK: « I have soft compounds. It’s a good choice as we have a good grip. » 7. NEUVILLE/GILSOUL: « I have hard compounds and I hope it won’t rain. The rhythm is high in this stage. I believe the notes we took during recces are a bit slow. » 20. BOUFFIER/PANSERI: « I took four soft compounds for this stage and it worked well. This stage is very different from the ones on the previous legs. My settings are softer today. » 6. EVANS/BARRITT: « Having mixed soft and hard compounds gives a strange balance to the car. » 4. OSTBERG/ANDERSSON: « I used three soft compounds and one hard one in that stage. It’s hard to start the day with such a slippery stage. » 5. HIRVONEN/LEHTINEN : « I have some hard compounds and Kubica chose some soft ones. He is incredibly fast! » 10. KUBICA/SZCZEPANIAK: « I have four soft compounds for this stage. I don’t know if it will be a good choice for the next stages. » 8. SORDO/MARTI: « Kubica was very fast. In that stage I had three soft compounds and one hard one at the right rear. » 3. MEEKE/NAGLE: « I had three soft compounds and one hard one at the right rear for that stage. It was not a good option. I can’t do better especially as the VW drivers aremodeling their rhythm on mine. As far as I am concerned I adapt my pace to Sordo’s splits. » 9. MIKKELSEN/FLOENE: « I adapted my pace to Kris Meeke’s splits. » 2. LATVALA/ANTTILA: « The day starts well. The three first kilometres went well before it became tricky in the forest. I had four hard compounds which was a good choice as theroads were dirty. » 35. SOUSA/MAGALHAES: « I had a hard time finding the good rhythm. » 36. CHARDONNET/DE LA HAYE : « I had four soft compounds but they were deteriorating by the end of the stage. » 42. HELOISE/MOMETTI : « I was very cautious. We are going home…. » 93. DUMAS/GIRAUDET : « It’s the first stage that I don’t find amusing. Roads are dirty and narrow and not meant for the Porsche. » 57. LEFEBVRE/DUBOIS : « A very tricky stage. I didn’t take any risk. » 92. DELECOUR/SAVIGNONI: “ I am happy to be in front of Romain (Dumas) especially as his car’s type is more efficient than mine.” Tires for the four stages of the third leg: Sordo / Meeke / Ostberg: 3 soft compounds – 3 hard compounds Latvala / Mikkelsen / Bouffier / Hirvonen: 4 hard compounds - 2 soft compounds Neuville: 4 hard compounds – 1 soft compound Ogier: 3 hard compounds – 3 soft compounds Kubica: 4 soft compounds – 2 hard compounds
